Netskope is an American software company that provides data security to platforms and cloud-native solutions.

The goal was to define a clear, scalable structure that not only supported business objectives but also aligned with user needs and behaviors across their journey.

Research — Strategy — UX Design

2021/2022

Project phases

  • Research

    Research

In the initial phase of the project, we identified the key audience segments within Netskope’s target. Both the Strategy and Experience teams collaborated on this step. We defined three distinct user types, each aligned with different roles and levels of hierarchy within the organization.

  • Content Audit and User Flows

    Content Audit & User Flows

We analyzed existing content and mapped customer journeys based on what was already live. This helped us assess the state of each section—identifying content gaps, areas for improvement, and elements that were already performing well.

From there, we moved into user flow mapping, aligning each audience type with potential questions or needs they might encounter throughout their journey.

  • Information Architecture

    Information Architecture

Based on our research findings, we created two proposals for the site’s information architecture and sitemap. Proposal A closely reflected Netskope’s existing structure and aligned with their anticipated internal direction. To shape these proposals, we evaluated different taxonomy groupings and identified key content patterns, including sections where users might hesitate—such as a labeled group for uncertain actions (“I’m not sure what this is”)—to understand potential confusion points in navigation and categorization.

  • User Testings

    User Testings

    Card sortings, Tree testings, Interviews

Through a mix of usability sessions and structured interviews, we gathered both behavioral insights and matrix-style data that helped us understand how users interacted with the proposed architectures. During interviews, we evaluated factors such as content legibility, findability, time spent on tasks, and signs of frustration. The results were compiled into a clear, insight-driven report designed to guide the client’s next steps with confidence. Backed by user quotes and measurable outcomes, this report enabled crucial UX decisions before progressing to visual design.

    UX Implementation & Design Execution

Wireframes, Interlinking Strategy, and Component Evaluation

Once the final sitemap was refined, the implementation phase began with a mobile-first approach to wireframing and layout design. Each section was defined based on content strategy, including page structure, taxonomy, and interlinking to ensure consistency and alignment. In parallel, a component analysis was conducted — highlighting areas for improvement and strong patterns to retain. A new component library was developed following atomic design principles, while existing elements were reviewed to assess behavior, responsiveness, and visual coherence.

Common Pains

  • Confusing and repetitive taxonomies for technical products, capabilities, and services

  • Lack of clarity around the purpose of many pages

  • Excessive information that was difficult to navigate

  • Overwhelming and fragmented user journeys
